Year of natural fibers will be the main topic of the 2009 National Textile Technicians Congress




The United Nations have recently proclaimed that 2009 will be the year of natural fibers. Being in tune with the latest discussions both in the domestic and worldwide scenario, Feiras, Congressos e Empreendimentos (FCEM), in collaboration with Brazilian Association of Textile Technicians (ABTT), is organizing the 2009 National Textile Technicians Congress (CNTT), which will have a more in-depth discussion on natural fibers as its main topic. The congress will happen simultaneously with the Textile Industry Technology Fair - Tecnotêxtil Brazil on April 14-17 in Expo Center Norte in the city of São Paulo.

Natural fibers in the domestic market Cotton, coconut, sisal, silk, wool, ramie, flax and other natural fibers are being well sold in the country and can be easily found in farms of various Brazilian regions. In the domestic market, cotton fiber is the strongest one in terms of sales and is utilized in several lines of the textile segment. Considered to be a high-quality product, it complies with international standards and is exported a lot. Among the main states producing cotton fiber are Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Bahia. Brazil is also working and laying its bet on the reutilization of natural fibers from fruit such as the pineapple, for instance. Bamboo is also a new trend. Originating from Asia, this fiber is being used the Brazilian industry, with clothes 100% made from it.
